Care and Maintenance of GRANICOAT® countertops:
- I or ordinary cleaning, a damp cloth with a mild detergent
such as Fantastic® or Formula 409® may be used. For
matte finishes ONLY an abrasive cleaner such
as Bon Ami® or Soft Scrub® may be used. Periodically
it may be necessary to go over the entire surface with an abrasive
cleaner or a wet Scotch-Brite™ Pad to maintain a uniform
finish. For high gloss finishes, use only a cloth or soft sponge
with a non abrasive liquid agent to clean.
- Most stains can be cleaned with normal cleaning products,
some stains such as tea, food dye, and fruit drinks can be removed
with full strength bleach (Note: Bleach should
not be in direct contact for more than five minutes), followed
by a general cleanser flushed with water or by scrubbing with
a Scotch-Brite™ brand #4774 green pad or equivalent. For
a high gloss finish, the fabricator may need to sand and polish
the top to its original finish.
- DO NOT use your top as a cutting board. Deep
cuts will require the service of a professional.
- Burns, scorches, and less severe scratches can be removed
by lightly sanding. First using 180 grit sandpaper and then
followed with 220. Then rub with a wet Scotch-Brite™ pad
in a circular motion to restore the matte finish. A final buffing
is required on polished surfaces.
- Hot pots, pans and other cooking vessels, along with heat
producing appliances, should not be placed directly on the countertop
surface. Use a trivet or heat resistant hot pad to protect your
surface.
- Do not expose the countertop to harsh chemicals for an extended
period of time.
- Please note that dark colors may require more maintenance.
